Walking: Bolzano Leonardo Dei Tos Italian champion over 50 km

On his debut over this distance, the 26-year-old from Vittorio Veneto came out ahead of Gregorio Angelini from Apulia and Niccolò Coppini after a great comeback in 3:59.48 hours.

Competing over 50 km for the first time, Dei Tos was crowned Italian champion in less than four hours. He already won an Italian championship title in the general class three years ago, but back then in the indoor event over 5000 m. In Reggio Emilia, the flagship of the Athletic Club 96 Bozen was behind Gregorio Angelini for a long time, but then started to catch up 10 kilometers from the finish , before he caught up with the Apulian in the final lap. Dei Tos never gave up his lead and secured the 50 km title in 3:59.48 hours right at the start. Behind the 26-year-old, Angelini took second place in 4:01.17 hours, while the 2-year-old Niccolò Coppini completed the podium in 21:4 hours.

Petra Pircher wins VSS race in Sarnonico

For the first time in the 39-year history of the VSS village runs, the series made a detour to neighboring Trentino at the weekend. At the premiere in Sarnonico, series winner Petra Pircher was able to assert herself among the women.

The almost 200 starters had to complete a wonderful 21 km panoramic run on the Mendel. The woman from Lasa, who celebrated her 47th birthday just over a week ago, left all the other runners behind in 1:28.24 hours and was able to hold her own in the end with just over three minutes ahead of Simonetta Menestrina from Trento. Third place also went to Sara Baroni with a time of 1:37.26 hours.

In the men's race, however, local hero Emanuele Franceschini dominated. The GS Tricalum athlete prevailed in a good 1:17.23 hours ahead of Franco Torresani and Diego Greco from Fullsport Meran. The duel for second place was particularly exciting, with Torresani only able to hold his own by 1 hundredths ahead of the South Tyrolean in 22.19:20 hours.

The VSS series is slowly but surely approaching the winter break. The ten-part series concludes on Sunday, October 28th in Ortisei in Val Gardena.
