Successful start to the season in Oberplanitzing

The focus of the cross-country race in Überetsch was the U14, U16 and U18 competitions, in which the national championship titles were also awarded. David Agethle won the boys' U18 race. The athlete from SC Meran won on the 4,6 km long route in 16.26 minutes, just ahead of Valentino Melle (16.27) and Ivan Domenici (17.18/both Südtirol Team Club). For the girls, the title also went to Merano. Lisa Leuprecht from Lana put her teammate Sofia Demetz and Vanessa Russo (Running Meran) in their place. The boys’ U16 title went to Simon Olivetto from the Südtirol Team Club. Olivetto finished the 2,6 km run in a good 9.14 minutes and was five seconds faster than Giuseppe Tassielli from Merano. Peter Thaler from ASV Deutschnofen came third. In the women's category, SC Meran even celebrated a triple victory: Julia Gamper was able to hold her own ahead of Sofia Sambin and Julia Agethle. The U16 and U18 races were also a dress rehearsal for the upcoming Italian Cross Country Championships on March 13th in Trieste. Two girls from Merano were also at the top of the U14 girls' category. Lilian Marie Andres prevailed over Magdalena Pircher and Sinah Bachmann (South Tyrol Team Club). In the boys' race, however, Benjamin Untermarzoner from ASV Deutschnofen was at the top. Places 2 and 3 went to Ivan Di Cello from Meran and Elias Wieser, who also competes for ASV Deutschnofen. Many young talents from the U8-10-12 age groups also took part in Oberplanitzing. Alex Lageder, Gabriele Manca, Einar Recchioni as well as Lena Hofer, Johanna Vigl and Marta Moretti secured their age categories. Successful start to the season in Oberplanitzing

After a two-year dry spell, the starting signal for the 2022 competition season was given on Sunday with the sixth edition of the “Georgs-Turm-Cross” in Oberplanitzing. More than 100 athletes from the U8 to U18 age groups took part.
