Gögele and Pircher win the anniversary edition of the Muterlauf

No fewer than 96 runners presented themselves in the starting area for the 50th edition, which was held as an evening event. The winner in the men's field was once again a Meraner. After Gerd Frick was able to hold his own last year, this year it was Armin Gögele from SC Meran who crossed the finish line first in 34.31 minutes. With a gap of 32 seconds or 2.09 minutes, the second Merano residents, Alex Holtz and Martin Holzeisen, took second and third place.

As so often, the winner among the women was Petra Pircher. The defending champion from Lasa prevailed in 41.24 minutes, just ahead of Edeltraud Thaler from Lana (41.41) and Andrea Schweigkofler from Merano (41.48). Curious: All three athletes were on the podium last year.

Gögele and Pircher win the anniversary edition of the Muterlauf

The 50th Muterlauf took place in Dorf Tirol on Saturday evening. The climb up to the Hochmuth (5,65 kilometers and 811 meters in altitude) was completed fastest by Armin Gögele from Merano and Petra Pircher from Lasa.
