Hackhofer and Casaro take the village run victory in Oberwielenbach

Oberwielenbach was the venue for the traditional village run for the 21st time. Despite adverse weather conditions, a total of 289 athletes took part. Since the race in Pustertal is also part of the East Tyrolean Raiffeisen Runners' Cup, there were also numerous runners from East Tyrol among the participants. Daniel Hackhofer triumphed in the men's field, completing the 6.600 meter long circuit in 24.38 minutes. Gabriel Karnutsch from Möltner achieved second place, a good twelve seconds behind. Tobias Kritzinger (SG Eisacktal) completed the podium, crossing the finish line just under a minute after winner Hackhofer. Elena Casaro was unbeatable in the women's competition. The woman from Puster covered the distance of 3.950 meters in 16.25 minutes and relegated Sarnthein winner Petra Pircher from ASC Laas to silver place by 16 seconds. Angelika Eckl from SG Eisacktal took third place. As was the case at the start of the village run, the victory in the team ranking went to Vinschgau. The ASC Laas prevailed with 1600 points ahead of the local heroes ASV Oberwielenbach (995 points) and the running friends from Sarntal (945 points). The VSS village and city running series will continue on May 14th in Prad. The national champions are also determined there as part of the village run.
