Half marathon Meran-Lagundo: Ploner wins the anniversary

After the starting signal at 9.30:5 a.m. on Merano's Freiheitsstraße, the top men's field stayed together until the 1-kilometer mark. In Lagundo, Markus Ploner finally increased the pace on the first climb, then controlled the action from the top and ultimately prevailed in 09.36:37 hours. For the XNUMX-year-old from Wipptal, it was his first victory in the Meran – Algund Half Marathon. “I ran without pressure” “A few years ago I started here in Meran. At that time there were still a lot of Africans taking part and so my peak time fell a little. Today I ran without pressure. I divided my strength very well. The Swiss woman, who came ninth in the 2000 meters at the 1500 Olympic Games in Sidney, reached the finish in 1:19.51 hours. “Today was certainly the most strenuous of my three victories here in Meran. After 14 kilometers I had to stop because my side pain was so bad. After that I just fought, it was a real mental matter,” explained the 44-year-old from Glarus, who works as a teacher and sports psychologist.

Second place went to Loretta Bettin (Atletica Paratico), who won the Kalterer See half marathon almost a month ago. In Meran, the 37-year-old crossed the finish line after 1:24.48 hours - 8 seconds ahead of third-placed Andrea Weber from Austria (SV Reutte). The best South Tyrolean was Romana Gafriller (SG Eisacktal Raiffeisen), who took fifth place with a time of 1:26.39 hours, behind Simonetta Menestrina (Atletica Trento). Fitness Run goes to Paolazzi and Dellemann However, there was a Trentino victory in the men's fitness run over 12,5 kilometers. Massimiliano Paolazzi (Atletica Valle di Cembra) won in 45.54 minutes, ahead of Luca Ceolan (Unione Sportiva Monti Pallidi/47.07) and Alex Oprandi from the South Tyrolean Running Club (47.40). In the women's category, Johanna Dellemann (South Tyrolean Running Club) came out on top, recording the sixth-fastest time overall in 50.15 minutes. Gerlinde Baldauf (55.05) and Tamara Schwienbacher (55.06), both of whom compete for the ASV Rennerclub Vinschgau, completed the podium.
