Hannes Kirchler throws 60.26 meters in Berlin

The International Stadium Festival in Berlin is the most traditional athletics meeting in the world with the largest number of spectators. Discus throwing legend Robert Harting was also bid farewell in Germany's capital today. For the “last craze”, the three-time world champion and two-time Olympic champion invited eight throwers to Berlin, including Hannes Kirchler, with whom he is good friends.

Kirchler achieved his distance in the fourth attempt. He also threw 58.90 m, 57.20 m and 58.81 m, while two throws were invalid. For the South Tyrolean, it was a very good dress rehearsal for next weekend's Italian Championships in Pescara, where Kirchler is aiming for his 14th title. The victory went to Christoph Harting, who was able to hold his own with 65.67 m ahead of his brother Robert (64.95 m). Martin Wierig completed the German podium with 63.67 m.
