Hannes Perkmann in 4th place at the Italian Championships

Thanks to the results of this mountain running classic, which counted as the 2nd race of the Italian championship, and the 1st race “up and down”, which took place on June 10th in Saluzzo, European champion Bernard Dematteis was also crowned Italian mountain running champion.

For the 32-year-old from Piedmont, who won his third European Championship gold medal a few weeks ago, it was already the 6th Italian championship title. Dematteis dominated the race from the start and completed the 10,4 km, with 1056 meters of altitude, in a very good 56:10 minutes. Also on the podium were the two runners from Atletica Valle Brembana, Francesco Puppi, second, 39 seconds behind, and Nadir Cavagna, third, 51 seconds behind the winner.

Hannes Perkmann from Sarner came in 4th, 1.13 minutes behind. However, the 25-year-old from the sports team does not appear in the final ranking of the Italian championship because he did not start in Saluzzo. Perkmann prevailed ahead of the Kenyan Dennis Kiyaka, Bernard's twin brother, Martin Dematteis, the long-distance world champion Alessandro Rambaldini, Cesare Maestri and the new U23 Italian champion Henri Aymonod.
