Hannes Rungger wins the Brixen Dolomites Marathon

A total of around 800 individual runners and relay runners took part in the Brixen Dolomites Marathon on Saturday - another record after the almost 700 starters last year. 305 reached the finish after 42,195 kilometers and 2.450 meters of altitude on the Plose. Due to the change in the weather, some athletes finished the run after 33 kilometers near Kreuztal.

The numerous spectators in the finish area on the summit of Brixen's local mountain cheered when Hannes Rungger crossed the finish line as the winner. The man from Sarn was overjoyed with the victory and said: “I was in good shape today. I started very calmly because I knew that the last part in particular would be very demanding. Of course, it gave me a boost when I realized that I was leaving my pursuers further and further behind. Hannes Rungger dominated the marathon from the start and left Andreas Reiterer from Hafling behind by a full five minutes at the end (3:43.43). Marco Pozza from Bolzano crossed the finish line in third place (3:50.14), ahead of Thomas Niederegger from the Rennerclub Vinschgau, who fell behind due to a fall. The fastest woman, Simonetta Menestrina, took part in the Brixen Dolomiten Marathon for the second time: “I am happy that I was the first to cross the finish line. But I started the race very relaxed. The last climb is very hard, but it was worth taking part. It was a wonderful run.” Anna Pircher from Latsch came second (4:38.37) ahead of Antje Benz from Germany (4:44.45). The fastest 4×4 relay this year was once again the SG Eisacktal “Toprunners” with a time of 3:33.22 with Martin Mayrhofer, Manfred Kritzinger, Karl Lercher and Christian Mair. They relegated the “Jamaica Running Team” relay team from Brixen and the “Weico” relay team from Feldthurns to second and third place.

The 2×2 relay was new for the first time this year. “Südtiroler Laufverein Sparkasse” from Luttach with runners Manfred Feichter and Patrick Costabiei won here with a time of 3.56.37, followed by the team “SG Youngstars Brixen” and “Laufgruppe Wassersuppe” from Germany.

Hannes Rungger wins the Brixen Dolomites Marathon

Hannes Rungger from Sarntal won the seventh Brixen Dolomites Marathon with a time of 3:38.48. Simonetta Menestrina won the women's event with a time of 4:28.52.
