Unique this year: the pole vault meeting in Schlanders

For over 15 years, the pole vault meeting in Silandro has been an integral part of the Vinschger event calendar: world-class athletes from all over the world come to South Tyrol year after year to demonstrate their skills in a test of strength at the highest level on the Kulturhausplatz in Silandro.

This year too, the meeting, which serves as the final test of form for the subsequent European Athletics Championships in Berlin, is well attended. The field is led by Canadian Shawn Barber, who won the event in 2015 and was even crowned world champion in the same year. Among the participants is veteran Manfred Menz, a South Tyrolean high jumper.

New name, new competition The 2018 pole vault meeting is unique because it will take place under exceptional conditions. On the evening of the event there will be a total lunar eclipse in Schlanders from 21.30:23.13 p.m. to XNUMX:XNUMX p.m. - which is why the meeting was given the new name “lunar eclipse jump”.

The “South Tyrolean Pole Vault Trophy” will also celebrate its premiere as part of the exhibition competition. Four young local jumpers will show off their talent and aim for new personal bests.
