Hofer and Schweigkofler are in the lead at the Soltn Mountain Half Marathon

Michael Hofer and Andrea Schweigkofler achieved the best time of the day on the 21,1 kilometer long route with an altitude difference of 520 meters in ideal running weather. Luis Schenk and Georg Premstaller, who crossed the finish line together after 10 kilometers, and Lisa Thaler won the Soltn Run.

With defending champion Hofer, the three-time winner Hannes Rungger and trail specialist Andreas Reiterer, three top athletes lined up at the start in the Jenesien sports zone shortly before 10 a.m., all of whom were considered for the day's victory in the South Tyrolean autumn classic.

But soon after the starting signal, Hofer broke away from the competition. The 26-year-old from Deutschnofen, who is also in first place in the Top7 overall ranking, was already a few hundred meters ahead of Rungger after around seven kilometers. Reiterer followed the leading duo in third place.

Although Rungger was able to reduce the gap a little, Hofer made everything clear in the final part downhill. The defending champion repeated his triumph with a time of 1:17.32 hours, almost half a minute faster than his last victory two years ago. Rungger crossed the finish line ten seconds later and was happy about second place, while Andreas Reiterer completed the podium and also stayed under the 1:19.07 hour mark in 1:20. Martin Plankensteiner and Helmut Mair fought a thrilling battle for fourth place, which Plankensteiner narrowly won. Start-finish victory for Andrea Schweigkofler Among the women, all eyes were on Petra Pircher. Before the Soltn mountain half marathon, she was ultimately in first place in the top 7 rankings and also had two daily victories to her name in Jenesien. But the soon-to-be 50-year-old from Lasa explained before the starting signal that she had injured her thigh. In fact, Pircher was anything but smooth, but fought his way to the finish and finished sixth. However, Pircher was unable to intervene in the fight for the day's victory.

Andrea Schweigkofler from Meran celebrated a start-to-finish victory. The 36-year-old from SC Meran, who took part in a race for the first time in two years on Sunday, ran to her rhythm and was the first to cross the finish line at the Soltn mountain half marathon at the sports field in Jenesien after 1:37.46 hours. Innsbruck resident Sarah Schenk, who lives in Val Gardena, took second place, more than four minutes behind, while Marion Wenter took third place in 1:45.23. Karolina Rosa Thaler from Sarntal also broke the 1:50 hour mark with a time of 1:49.31. Here Luis Schenk from Val Gardena and defending champion Georg Premstaller from Sarn crossed the finish line at the same time after 34.10 minutes. Jürgen Wieser from the organizing ASV Jenesien Raiffeisen Soltnflitzer came third, 1.10 minutes behind.

An athlete from the Sarntal also achieved success among women. Lisa Thaler, just 18 years old, won the race in 41.01 minutes ahead of her teammate Maria Moser, who lost 44 seconds to the day's winner. The podium was completed by the Swiss Maja Luder-Gautschi, who became famous in South Tyrol because of her four victories at the Reschenseelauf. “For a long time there was uncertainty as to whether we could win the race or not. However, our conclusion is always positive. We have around 150 participants at the finish line – and they are all smiling from ear to ear. That's the most important. I would like to thank all athletes for taking part and meticulously adhering to the safety measures. My biggest thanks go, on the one hand, to our many volunteers and to our sponsors who actively support us. Without them we couldn’t organize an event like this,” said OK boss Hansjörg Prugg in conclusion. The votes for the race Michael Hofer (ASV Deutschnofen/winner): “I am of course very satisfied. The external conditions were perfect, perhaps a touch too warm. After my injury I competed in good form and still feel a slight pinch. I always really like it here in Jenesien because the route is varied and there is a really great panorama for us participants. Now I will take part in the Age Factor Run and at the beginning of November I would like to take part in a half marathon so that I can end the season with a top time.”

Hannes Rungger (athlete team/2nd place): “After a long time, I managed a good race again, which is why I am very satisfied. For me this is a starting point again after I had physical problems in the past. But now I have the feeling that things are going well again. That’s why I hope that I can do a few good races in the fall and have a good season next year.”

Andreas Reiterer (ASV Telmekom Team/3rd place): “I'm used to other, longer distances but for me this is really great training under competition conditions where I can try to get speed back in my legs. Now I still have a big race ahead of me, the Transvulcania in October on Gran Canaria, and then I want to attack the World Championships in the winter.”

Andrea Schweigkofler (SC Meran/winner): “The race went really well for me. At the beginning I tried to find a good rhythm and stick to it, which I succeeded in doing. I love this route, I always feel very comfortable at the Soltn Mountain Half Marathon and I also really like the downhill sections.”
