Top7 series continues with the Meran-Lagundo half marathon

The Meran-Lagundo half marathon has been very popular for years. Also because the traditional running event takes place on a very flat route: the participants only have to overcome a total of 50 meters of altitude over the 21,097 kilometers. Some top athletes will tackle Kenyan Paul Kanda's best time (1:00.55 hours) from 2002. The organizers can look forward to, among others, defending champion Michael Hofer from ASV Deutschnofen, as well as David Andersag (ASC Berg), Andrea Dagostin (Athletic Club 96 Bozen), Benjamin Ganal, Ludovico Palmieri (ASV Schluderns) and Herbert Kopp. There is a packed field of favorites this year, especially among women, after all Julia Kessler (SC Meran), Petra Pircher (ASC Laas), Natalie Andersag (ASC Berg) and Edeltraud Thaler are among the absolute running elite in South Tyrol. They have to assert themselves against Giulia Franchi (Atletica Trento), Andreea Lucaci (Parco Alpi Apuane) and Nicole Dürst (Switzerland/third last year). In addition to these top athletes, more than 500 running enthusiasts have already registered for the three competitions offered in the Passerstadt. In addition to the half marathon, there is also a fitness run that is about half as long. There is also the Run4Fun, which, like the Fitness Run, is 12,5 kilometers long, but the focus is on fun. No time is taken here and it is not necessary to have a medical certificate - unlike the other two competitions. The organizers are very excited Martin Sanin, who has been the head of the Half Marathon Meran-Algund for many years, is looking forward to a more or less normal staging of the spring classic after particularly strict Covid19 requirements applied last year: “With the entire organization up to now and also with I can be satisfied with the registrations received so far. A year ago only 300 athletes were allowed to take part. This year, ten days before the starting signal, almost twice as many have registered – and there will certainly be a lot of runners joining us,” emphasizes Sanin. Two particularly loyal athletes want to know again Martin Sanin is particularly pleased about the registrations from Wilfried Braunhofer and Norbert Zecher. “Both are among our “most loyal of the loyal” and will live up to their reputation again this year. This is Braunhofer's 27th participation in the half marathon - the only time he didn't appear in the results list, he was disqualified. The Zecher, who comes from Stauffenberg (Germany), has already run 26 half marathons and seven marathons, which previously took place in Meran. He probably knows our city better than many locals,” explains the OC boss in conclusion. Top7 series continues with the Meran-Lagundo half marathon

On May 1st the running shoes will be laced up again in Meran. The 9.30th Meran-Algund Half Marathon is on the program in the Passerstadt from 28 a.m. Numerous top athletes are again expected at the third event in the popular South Tyrolean Top7 running series.
