Italian Championship: All eyes on Petra Nardelli

The Italian Championship will take place in the Quercia Stadium for the second time since 2014. A total of 42 titles will be awarded in Trentino this weekend. Interest in an Italian championship has rarely been as great as in the 111th edition in Rovereto. Tickets for the Olympic Games in Tokyo will also be awarded during the title fights in Trentino. June 29th is also the qualifying final day for the international ranking.

For example, 400 m runner Petra Nardelli from Eggen, Caren Agreiter (400 m hurdles) from Bruneck and the Burgstall heptathlete Linda Maria Pircher were not at the start in Padua. This year all three are registered. All eyes are particularly on Nardelli. The 25-year-old is registered in her flagship discipline over 400 m in 53.19 seconds. Nardelli has a very good chance of taking part in the 4x400 m relay in Tokyo.

Nathalie Kofler also has a chance of a top placement. The Lanan woman, who was crowned Italian pole vault champion at the U23 Italian Championships in Grosseto just two weeks ago, is registered with 4.21 m. But it might not be enough for a medal. 3000 m steeplechase Katja Pattis from Tiers, heptathlete Linda Maria Pircher and the two Puster 400 m hurdlers Valentina Cavalleri and Caren Agreiter are also up for a good result.
