Jbari and Fischer take part in the Meran-Algund half marathon

In the men's race, Khalid Jbari crossed the finish line first with a time of 1:09,09 hours. The 28-year-old Moroccan clearly won ahead of Hannes Rungger from Sarn (+1.29 minutes) and local hero Rudi Brunner from SC Meran. Jbari stayed under 1.10:1 for the third time in his career today, missing his personal best by just four seconds. From the start, Jbari set the pace and set himself apart from the competition in the first few kilometers. As with the Kalterersee half marathon, Hannes Rungger from Sarner had to be content with second place. He had a time of 10,38:1 hours, while third-placed Rudi Brunner completed the podium in 13,32:4. Just behind Brunner was Mikhail Mamleev in fourth place.

In the women's race, victory went to last year's Swiss winner Sabine Fischer in a strong 1:18,07 hours. In cloudy weather, she reached the finish in Passerstadt ahead of Sarah Giomi. The woman from Bolzano, who also took second place last year, completed only the fourth half marathon in her career after 1:20,24 hours. Third-place finisher Kathrin Hanspeter also ran a strong race after an 18-month break due to a back injury. The woman from Sarnen, who has already won the half marathon in Merano three times, made it onto the podium in her comeback in 1:22,45.

Lahner and Heiss win fitness run

Last year's men's winner Eduard Lahner won the fitness run, which took place for the second time this year. The athlete from Lauffreunde Sarntal completed the 12,5 kilometers in 43.20 minutes. Veith Berger came second ahead of Ezio Bernardi. In the women's race, however, the German Mikki Heiss was ahead with a time of 51.11 minutes. She relegated Natalie Andersag from ASC Berg and her compatriot Barbara Gruber to second and third place.

Jbari and Fischer take part in the Meran-Algund half marathon

On Sunday the top 7 running series continued with the 24th edition of the half marathon from Meran to Lagundo. The victories were won by Khalid Jbari, who competes for Athletic Club 96 Bozen, and last year's winner Sabine Fischer from Switzerland.
