Jbari and Hanspeter win the Vivicittà run in Bolzano

23.000 athletes took part in the race, organized by Uisp, 13.141 of them in Italy. Bolzano was also one of the venues for the traditional race.

In the state capital, the 165 athletes had to complete a twelve-kilometer course. This led from the Court Square to the Talferbrücke, over the Eisackufer to Mailandstrasse and finally from Rovigostrasse back to the start.

In the men's field, Khalid Jbari was unbeatable. The 29-year-old Moroccan from Athletic Club 96 Bozen, who had already held his own last year, won with a time of an extremely strong 37.29 minutes, relegating Markus Ploner and Matthias Steinwandter, both from ASV Vipiteno, to the ranks by one and eight seconds respectively two and three. With this performance they made it to second, third and fourth place in Italy. Only 37-year-old Giovanni Auciello ran a faster time in Bari.

The women's race ended with Kathrin Hanspeter's clear victory. The woman from Sarnen won in 45.24 minutes with a whopping lead of 1.12 minutes over last year's winner Elena Casaro from Toblach. Romana Gafriller from Eisacktal completed the podium in 46.46 minutes. Hanspeter was also at the forefront at national level: her time was good enough for fourth place, Casaro took tenth place. The victory went to 34-year-old Serbian Ana Subotic, who ran 42.27 minutes in Sarajevo.
