Jenesien is preparing for the big autumn classic

The starting signal for the big South Tyrolean autumn classic will be given at 10 a.m. sharp at the equestrian center near the Jenesien sports field. The main run takes the participants over the 21,1 kilometer long route with 520 meters of elevation gain, first over tarred ground, then over unpaved ground through the forests and meadows of the Soltn, before running back to the starting point, where the finish line is. “Our plateau offers an ideal environment for outdoor activities. For this reason, we have been organizing this half marathon for 21 years now. Over time it has become an autumn classic and attracts many female athletes. “We expect a lot of registrations this year too,” says OK boss Jürgen Wieser confidently. There will also be a lot of emotions in the race itself, which can remain exciting until the end. Last year, for example, the women's event ended with a solo victory for Andrea Schweigkofler from Merano, while the men's event saw Michael Hofer prevail in the finish sprint against Hannes Rungger. Hofer currently has two wins to his name (2021, 2019), while Rungger has three successes (2008, 2011 and 2018). The Sarner is the record winner of the Soltn mountain half marathon. In the women's race, Antonella Confortola from Trentino holds this title with four victories (2003, 2005, 2006 and 2013), where she also set the course record in 2003 with a running time of 1:22.19 hours. For men, the best time set by Kenyan Elisha Sawe in 2005, 1:10.55 hours, has never been bettered. The results of the Soltn mountain half marathon are also included in the overall ranking of the Top7 running series. It's now entering the hot phase. The siblings David Andersag (ASC Berg/1670 points) and Natalie Andersag (ASC Berg/1666 points) are currently leading the rankings after five of seven races. Closely followed by Michael Hofer (ASV Deutschnofen/1460) and Ludovico Palmieri (1437), as well as Petra Pircher (ASC Laas Raiffeisen/1429) and Natalie Mitterrutzner (1360). 10 kilometers for the SoltnRun and Just For Fun In addition to the popular half marathon, the organizers from ASV Jenesien Soltnflitzer also offer a 10 kilometer long route with an elevation gain of 140 meters. “This route can be completed in a competition, the SoltnRun, and a non-competitive run, the Just for Fun. Both will start directly on the Salten plateau,” says Wieser. The starting point above the Hotel Edelweiss can only be reached on foot by a walk or a warm-up run. The shorter distance starts at 10.30 a.m. The participants walk over forest paths and unpaved paths and finally reach the finish at the equestrian center of Jenesien. Perhaps this year we will be able to repeat the strong results of last year. At the last edition, thanks to optimal weather conditions, the winners were very fast and set new course records. Luis Schenk and Georg Premstaller won the men's event (34:11 minutes), and Lisa Thaler (41:01 minutes) was unbeatable in the women's event. Five minutes after the start of the SoltnRun runners, the Just For Fun race begins at 10.35:XNUMX a.m. “As it is not a competition, neither a sports doctor’s certificate nor a minimum age is required. It is an opportunity to enjoy the landscape of the Soltn while exercising healthily and there is no timing, no rankings and no awards,” explains the head of the organizing committee.
