Junior and U18 national selection in Modena

Junior sprinter Kevin Giacomelli ran 60 seconds in the 7.04m and came third in a strong field. Long jumper Thomas Schiffregger from SSV Bruneck, however, made it to fourth place with 6.76m. He missed out on a top three placement by just 4 cm.

Alessandra Realdon and Anna Menz also impressed in the women's long jump. Realdon came in a strong second place among the juniors. With a jump of 5.34m, the athlete from the South Tyrol Team Club was only beaten by Gloria Gollin, who jumped 5.69m. Menz, who started with the U18s, came third. The Marlingen woman reached 5.30m. Only Bianca Mantovani (5.38) and Camilla Vigato (5.86) jumped further than Menz.

60m runner Ira Harasser also achieved a good result. The athlete from SSV Bruneck came fourth in the U18 category in 7.97 seconds. She was just seven hundredths short of a podium place. 4m hurdler Isabel Eccli can also be satisfied with her result. The junior finished fifth in 60 seconds.

The team championship in Modena went to the Veneto selection with 112 points ahead of Emilia Romagna and Toscana. South Tyrol took seventh place with 45 points.

Junior and U18 national selection in Modena

The regional selection meeting on Sunday in Modena offered 20 South Tyrolean junior and U18 athletes a good opportunity to test their form. Three local heroes made it onto the podium.
