Kalterersee half marathon firmly in Sarn hands - all results

Hannes Rungger (Sportler Team) took the lead immediately after the start and ran a lonely race to his third victory in a row in the spring classic around the shores of Lake Kaltern. After half the distance he had already gained a lead of over two minutes over his worst opponent, Günther Mair from Pusteria. In the end, Hannes Rungger crossed the finish line after 1:09.57 hours.

“I am very happy with how the race went. When you're alone at the front the whole race, it's hard to find the right motivation to keep the pace high. It was a little warmer on the second lap than on the first. My next outings are next Sunday at Vivicittà in Bolzano, after which I will do the half marathon in Meran,” revealed Rungger.

Günther Mair was able to hold on to second place, which the athlete competing for the ASC Rasen held after 10,55 kilometers, until the end. The Pusterer (born in 1974) reached the finish after 1:13.39 hours. Hermann Achmüller (ASV Jenesien Soltnflitzer) from Palatinate, who is currently preparing for the Boston Marathon, came third. “I took it easy on the first lap, then picked up the pace a little on the second lap. This beautiful run was of course ideal training for the Boston Marathon on April 21st,” said the 43-year-old Achmüller.

Hanspeter missed the course record by three seconds For the women, Kathrin Hanspeter (Running Friends Sarntal Raiffeisen) narrowly missed the course record. In the end, the 31-year-old from Sarnen was only three seconds short of Simona Viola's record, set in 2007. Nevertheless, Hanspeter was satisfied with her debut victory on Lake Kaltern.

“Today I benefited from the very good preparation for the Verona Half Marathon, because if I'm honest, I've taken it rather easy in the last few weeks. The conditions today were optimal, it was wonderful to run here,” explained the beaming women’s winner, who relegated Mirella Bergamo (GS Valsugana Trentino/1:21.54) and Doris Weissteiner (SG Eisacktal Raiffeisen/1:25.52) to the places of honor.

Trentino residents take victories on the 10-kilometer distance In addition to the half marathon race, there was also a panoramic run. The athletes only had to complete one lap around Lake Kaltern (10,55 kilometers). In this race, Gianluca Pozzatti (CUS Trento) won the men's race. He crossed the finish line in 34.46 minutes. In the women's race, Pozzatti's teammate Ilaria Zane was fastest (40.51 minutes).

As part of the ninth Lake Kaltern Half Marathon there was also a handbike race with a total of six starters, which the two Paralympics participants Roland Ruepp and Claudia Schuler were able to win. A total of 1043 athletes took part, which is why the organizing South Tyrolean running club led by OC boss Frieda Viertler was able to set a new record number of participants.

The Top7 running series, which includes the Kalterersee half marathon, will continue on April 27th with the Merano – Lagundo half marathon.
