The Kalterersee half marathon wants to break the 1000 mark on Sunday

629 participants in 2010, 769 in 2011, 912 in the previous year (out of 987 registered participants). If the weather cooperates, the 1000 mark could fall this year. However, unsettled weather is forecast for Sunday. Nevertheless, 800 runners had already secured their starting number by Wednesday evening. The first big spring classic is organized by the South Tyrolean Running Club.

The Kalterersee half marathon (21,1 km, two laps of the lake) also attracts numerous top runners every year. The Italo-Moroccan Said Boudalia has already triumphed four times at Lake Kaltern. But the favorites are last year's winners Hannes Rungger and Monica Carlin. The Trentino native will meet, among others, Edeltraud Thaler (winner in 2011) and Petra Pircher (winner in 2009). The two South Tyroleans had already finished second and third behind Carlin last year. Hannes Rungger from Sarn has to assert himself against runners Hermann Achmüller, Rudi Brunner (winner 2011) or Georg Brunner.

The start will take place on Sunday, March 24th at 10 a.m. at the parking lot in St. Josef am See. The handbikers start 10 minutes earlier. The start is in a southerly direction. At 10.15 a.m. the panoramic and popular runners (10,55 km) set off on the course.
