Katja Pattis and SC Meran are crowned Italian mountain running champions

Animal trainer Katja Pattis won the championship title in the U18 age group, while the girls from the Merano sports club even won the “Scudetto” in both age categories.

Pattis, who will turn 16 in just under two weeks, was one of the closest favorites in her race. On the very demanding route, the athlete from the South Tyrol Team Club set the pace from the start. The animal crossed the finish line with a time of 18.25 minutes. Behind the new Italian champion, Eisa Pastorelli from Lecco (18.39) and Veronika Hölzl from Merano (19.19) took second and third place. Another athlete from SC Meran, Emma Garber, came fourth. Sara Frick, who came ninth, also made it into the top 10. Her teammate Martina Falchetti finished 14th.

Merano U18 and U16 Italian champions SC Meran was unstoppable in the team rankings. In the U18 age category, the Kurstadt girls prevailed with 107 points ahead of Atletica Saluzzo (73) and Valchiese (63) and were thus crowned the new Italian champions.

Coach Hans Ladurner's team took their next victory in the U16 category. Emily Vucemillo (6th), Traminer Lisa Kerschbaumer (7th), Maddalena Melle (8th) and Nike Frick (10th) were once again clearly ahead of Atletica Valle Brembana (213) and the Trento club Valle di Cembra (159) claim. For Ladurner it was already the Italian championship titles number 127 and 42.
