Kirchler and Rifesser on Sunday in Paris at DecaNation

This international competition has been organized by the French Athletics Federation since 2005. The ten classic disciplines of the Decathlon are held (since 2009 there have also been competitions over 800m, 3000m obstacle and hammer throwing). Each nation is allowed to field one athlete per competition. Among the 21 “Azzurri” called up (the World Cup participants in the title fights in Beijing were not taken into account) is the Italian discus champion Hannes Kirchler. The 36-year-old from Meran is taking part in the DécaNation for the second time in his career. In 2009, six years ago, he took 5th place with 61.01 m, the victory went to Olympic champion and world champion Robert Harting with 66.91 m. Lukas Rifesser was also called up for the 800 m run with newcomer Gabriele Bizzotto. The discus competition, with Kirchler, starts on Sunday at 15.30:800 p.m., while the 15.45 m run starts at XNUMX:XNUMX p.m. So far only four South Tyroleans have taken part in the DécaNation: Kirchler, Christian Obrist from Brixen (4th in 2005 over 1500 m in 3:42.06 minutes) and Christian Neunhäuserer from Pusteria (6th in 2007, always over 1500 m in 3: 54.25) and Agnes Tschurtschenthaler, who took part in two editions. In 2007 she finished seventh in the 300 m steeplechase in 10:25.50 minutes and two years later she finished the 1500 m run in 4th place in 4:18.66 minutes.
