Masters Team Italian Championship: 3rd place for South Tyrol Team Club

Two years ago, the ladies of the South Tyrol Team Club even achieved a major coup when President Edmund Lanziner's athletes were crowned team Italian champions for the first time in L'Aquila in Abruzzo. Since 2011, the STC women have always been on the podium, only last year they came eighth. This year they achieved a podium finish again. The South Tyroleans came third with 1251 points, behind Atletica Virtus Castenedolo (1254) and Romatletica Fottoworks, who narrowly secured the “Scudetto” with 1254,5 points. The South Tyrolean women won four times in the individual disciplines. The most successful athlete in the South Tyrol Team Club was once again Waltraud Mattedi, who emerged victorious in both the discus and javelin throw. The Italian championship title was also won by 3000 m runner Rosa Pattis and 200 m hurdles ace Erika Niedermayr. Two silver medals went to Truder Rosanna Barbi Lanziner over 800 and 1500 m.

Men's team in 12th place However, things didn't go as well for the men's team from the South Tyrol Team Club. After last three eighth places, this time it was “only” enough to finish 12th. For the first time in many years, the local athletes returned home empty-handed, as no one managed to reach the podium. Only Hubert Indra from Lanan narrowly missed the “Stockerl” in the high jump (4th) and the 200 m hurdles (5th). The Meran sports club in 12th place The Merano sports club was the second South Tyrolean club to be represented in Modena. The Kurstadt women particularly shone with Ingeborg Zorzi, who showed her usual strong performance. The former volleyball player won gold in the high jump and bronze in the javelin throw, but otherwise no Merano woman made it onto the podium. In the end, it was enough for 12th place in the team ranking, the same as last year. The Merano men's team, however, did not start in Modena.

Masters Team Italian Championship: 3rd place for South Tyrol Team Club

The Italian Masters team championship took place in Modena at the weekend. The two South Tyrolean clubs Sportclub Meran and Südtirol Team Club were also represented among the 27 participating clubs.
