Several top ten places for South Tyrol's cross-country runners

Sophia Zingerle was the best local participant. The woman from Valser, who competes for SG Eisacktal, ran the 6 kilometers in the U20 category in a strong time of 21,02 minutes and ended up in fifth place. Vera Mair from Sterzing also made people sit up and take notice as she finished eleventh. She and her team also took ninth place in the team rankings. The SV Sterzing women's relay team around Anna Frick, Verena Stefani, Vera Mair and Lisa Maria Aukenthaler made a clear statement on the first day of the competition with sixth place.

Daniel Pattis also did extremely well, finishing seventh in the U23 category. His sister Katja Pattis, however, impressed in sixth place in the U16 category. Together with her teammates from the state selection, Ruth Hannah Hauser, Emma Garber, Veronika Hölzl and Sara Frisch, she also took the brilliant fifth place on the team.

Another top ten placement was achieved by Raphael Joppi from Salurno, who took eighth place in the U18 ranking. With his team partners from the South Tyrolean Running Club, he also achieved another eighth place.

The title in the general men's class was secured by the up-and-coming Trentino native Yemaneberhan Crippa. Markus Polner took 35th place here.

Several top ten places for South Tyrol's cross-country runners

No fewer than 2.000 athletes from 286 sports clubs determined 23 Italian champions in cross-country running in and around the impressive Roman Theater in Gubbio over the weekend. There were also numerous athletes from South Tyrol among them.
