Moser and Accalai win the Agefactor Run in Branzoll

In this unique running event, organized by US Bronzolo, the participants' net times are multiplied by a factor corresponding to their age - the so-called age factor. This means that the runner who crosses the finish line first does not necessarily win the race. That's how it was on Saturday afternoon, when the race for the day's victory developed into a real thriller in bright sunshine and mild temperatures from the starting signal at 15 p.m.

Luciano Moser completed the men's 10 kilometer distance in an impressive 37.45 minutes. Multiplied by his age factor, the Italian champion in the 10 km road race in the SM65 category had an adjusted time of 28.30 minutes, which meant that he relegated Helmuth Mair (SG Eisacktal) and Johann Mair (South Tyrol Running Club) to the places of honor. The two runners each had an Agefactor time of 29.18 minutes. 51-year-old Helmuth Mair actually ran the distance in 33.13 minutes, his 15-year-old competitor Johann Mair in 38.03 minutes. “I am very happy about the victory. It was important to me to take part here because this is a race that is dedicated to us Masters athletes,” said Moser after his success. Crowd favorite Baggia in fourth place Living legend Bruno Baggia took fourth place. The 87-year-old (!) from Cles, multiple world and European champion at the Masters, had won the last three editions of the Agefactor Run. On Saturday he reached the finish line after a still outstanding 58.56 minutes, a time of 29.35 minutes that was commensurate with his age. It was enough for the veteran, who is the absolute crowd favorite in Branzoll, to win, but this time it wasn't enough.

In the women's race, Paola Accalai was delighted with the victory in Branzoll. Because of her age, 42.29 minutes became 34.55 minutes. This made her 9 seconds faster than Paola Gagliardi (Lisphera), who completed the flat distance at the autumn classic in 42.17 minutes and who ultimately recorded an Agefactor time of 35.04 minutes. “It went better than I expected. Of course I'm overjoyed with the victory," said Accalai, who finished third two years ago. This year, Petra Pircher from ASC Laas Raiffeisen came third, staying one second under the 40-minute mark and clocking in at 35.33 minutes. Perkmann with a very strong performance The fastest actual times were achieved by Hannes Perkmann and Loretta Bettin. The 28-year-old Perkmann from Sarner crossed the finish line after 30.10 minutes and was ranked sixth in the Agefactor ranking. “We traveled in a group of three for a long time. I then increased the pace and was able to keep the higher rhythm until the finish. The route is very beautiful,” said Perkmann.

Behind the fastest of the day, Michael Hofer (ASV Deutschnofen/30.58) and Khalid Jbari (Athletic Club 96 Alperia/31.00) took the places of honor. Bettin, 41 years old from Trentino, impressed the women with a net time of 37.31 minutes. Sarah Schenk from Innsbruck, who lives in Val Gardena, provided the second best performance (39.53), Petra Pircher was also third fastest in the net ranking (39.59).
