Nardelli & Co. shine in Rovereto

The club championship regulations stipulate that a mandatory regional phase will be held this season. To be eligible to participate, clubs must field an athlete in at least 15 of 20 disciplines. The Athletic Club 96 Bozen already underlined its high ambitions in Rovereto: After the regional phase, Bruno Telchini's club has 13.813 points in 15 competitions - so participation in the “Oro” final on September 17th and 18th in Brescia is already guaranteed . Behind Quercia Rovereto (12.958) and Lagarina Crus Team (11.108), the Bolzano club CSS Leonardo da Vinci also recorded a top result with 10.681 points. The women from SG Eisacktal were also able to impress (10.807), SAF Bozen got 7.925 points. Vice-Italian champions Athletic Club Bozen didn't take part in full (some top athletes were missing), but the people of Talferstadt still had an amazing weekend. The star in Rovereto was shot putter Nick Ponzio. The 2022 World Indoor Championships seventh place triumphed in his flagship discipline with an extremely strong 21.73 m (1.195 points). The Tunisian newcomer Mohamed Amin Jhinaoui also shone in the 3000 m steeplechase in 8:18.43 minutes. The Psairer javelin thrower Hubert Göller won with a strong 59.74 m. Pole vault ace Nicolò Fusaro from Bolzano failed at 4.60 m. The athletes still have the chance to improve their performance until July 10th. From a South Tyrolean perspective, Petra Nardelli from Eggen impressed over 200 m with 24.95 seconds. Ira Harrasser from Bruneck came in at 25.36. In the high jump, Agata D'angelo shines with 1.60 m, and the Burgstaller all-rounder Linda Maria Pircher also crossed this height. The Brixen discus thrower Lara Cubich reached 40.85 m, the Sarn 800 m runner Sandra Sparer stopped the time measurement in 2:16.04 minutes. High jumper Alberto Masera from Bolzano reached 2.02 m, Leonardo Badolato and Simon Federer impressed over 100 m in 10.97 and 11.23 seconds respectively.

The regional phase of the general class club championship was held in Rovereto this weekend. The Athletic Club 96 Bozen immediately knew how to convince, as they were already able to buy their ticket for the “Finale Oro”.
