Perkmann and Pircher win the Algund-Vellau mountain race

In wonderful weather, 110 runners reached the finish in Vellau. After a one-year break, the race took place under the new name “Algunderlauf” and was held by ASC Algund. The Meran association ASM had previously held the event as part of the Meran winter runs.

In 2016 and 2017, Hannes Perkmann won the classic mountain running course in 30:05 and 30:04 minutes. This year the 25-year-old achieved a time under 30 minutes for the first time. The exceptional runner from Sarntal broke away from the start and clearly won in 29.47 minutes ahead of Alex Holtz from Meran (31.52) and Martin Griesser from Mauls (32.57).

As in 2016 and 2017, the women's victory went to Petra Pircher from Lasa. The woman from Vinschger won the race in 38.56 minutes and only had to give way to 22 men. Second place went to Elektra Bonvecchio from Cles, who crossed the finish line five seconds behind Pircher. Edeltraud Thaler from Lanan completed the podium in 39.20 minutes.

Hannes Perkmann and Petra Pircher won the first mountain run of the new year from Algund to Vellau. The aim was to cover seven kilometers and 550 meters in altitude.
