Peter Lanziner and Kathrin Hanspeter win the Eppan Wine Road Run

The South Tyrolean Running Club has been running the Eppan Wine Road Run since 1998. People have been running through the streets of Girlan since 2002 and for four years women and men have been running over a distance of 5 km (two laps). 240 athletes took part today.

In the men's race, Peter Lanziner was too strong for the competition. The Trudner ran a lonely race at the front from the start and celebrated his third success in Girlan after 2010 and 2011. He also set a new course record in 14.48 minutes. The fight for second place was exciting, which Thomas Hellrigl from Vinschger finally secured, just ahead of Hermann Achmüller from Pusteria, Christian Conati from Trento and Martin Mayrhofer from Eisacktal.

In the women's category, Kathrin Hanspeter repeated her victory from last year. The 31-year-old from Sarnen was almost twenty seconds faster this year than twelve months ago. While last year she was only three seconds faster than second-placed Mirella Bergamo, this year she beat the woman from Trento by 19,5 seconds. Third place went to Elektra Bonvecchio, ahead of local hero Johanna von Dellemann and Petra Pircher from Vinschger.
