Petra Nardelli celebrates double victory in Bolzano

The SAF Bolzano meeting was held in honor of Franco Criscuolo, who died last December 11th at the age of 91. Criscuolo founded the Bolzano club in 1953. At the sports facility in the Drusus Stadium he trained several thousand athletes, including Erica Rossi, Silvana Zangirolami and Maria Grazia Bertoldo.

In Bolzano there was an interesting duel in the women's 200m race between the two 22-year-old sprint hopefuls Petra Nardelli from Eggen and Valentina Cavalleri from Innich. The former prevailed with her new personal best time of 24.27 seconds ahead of the Pusterian (24.67). Nardelli from the South Tyrol Team Club also won the 400 m competition, also with a new best time of 54.39 seconds. Three more South Tyrolean victories were celebrated by host Chiara Cardinale in the pole vault, Isabel Vikoler in the 400m hurdles and Katja Pattis in the 3000m obstacle.

Alberto Masera once again achieved a new personal best among the men. The 18-year-old from Bolzano from Athletic Club 96 achieved an impressive 7.42 m in the long jump and thus took victory ahead of Alexander Demetz from Val Gardena (7.19) and Destiny Nkeonye (6.89) from the Bolzano club CSS Leonardo da Vinci. Masera beat its previous record by 31 centimeters.
