Pichler and Hofer win cross-country race in Kaltern

A 5,67 km cross-country run (270 meters altitude) in the general class took place on the grounds in St. Anton under optimal running conditions. The men's race ended with Fabian Pichler's victory. The 35-year-old from Telmekom Team South Tyrol clearly won in 23.23 minutes ahead of Robert Brunner from Schenna, who was already 19 seconds behind at the finish. Patrik Rottensteiner from Ritten came third in 23.56 minutes. For the women, however, Anna Lena Hofer from SC Meran was at the top. The athlete from Dorf Tirol won with a good time of 26.32 minutes ahead of her teammate Emily Vucemillo, who stopped the time measurement in 28.17 minutes. Vucemillo will compete in the U20 Mountain Running World Championships in Thailand in November. Brigitte Vasselai from Sarnen secured third place in 34.07 minutes. No fewer than 130 athletes (participation record) from the U8 to U18 age groups took part. The national championship titles were also awarded in the U14, U16 and U18 age groups on the beautiful circuit around the sports facility in Kaltern. Lisa Leuprecht, Julia Gamper and Lina Wallisch won among the girls. Leuprecht from Lanan, who competes for SC Meran, was able to clearly hold her own in the U18 race ahead of Annalisa Pitscheider and Hanna Irsara from Pusteria. Gamper prevailed in the U16 competition ahead of her Merano teammates Katja Mitterhofer and Sofia Sambin. Lina Wallisch, who competes for the Südtirol Team Club, won the U14 race ahead of her club colleague Sinah Bachmann and Johanna Herbst from ASV Deutschnofen. Among the boys, Valentino Melle, Aaron Gallmetzer and Leo Pedò were at the top. U18 ace Melle prevailed in the finish against David Agethle from SC Meran. Agethle's teammate Gallmetzer, however, won the U16 race. Leo Pedò from the Südtirol Team Club dominated the U14 race and won with a huge lead over the two talents from ASV Deutschnofen, Marjan Köhl and Elias Wieser.
