Pircher and Bazzoni are VSS national champions in road running

The women ran a 5.000 meter lap in Prad, which initially led out of the village center of Prad and, after a loop through the orchards, brought the runners back to the start/finish area on Prad's main square. From the start, Petra Pircher set the pace at will and ultimately won safely in 19,12 minutes. At the finish, the woman from Laas was more than a minute ahead of her teammate Mirka Lorenzani (ASC Laas) and Natalie Andersag (ASC Berg). Gianmarco Bazzoni, on the other hand, was unbeatable in the men's 10.000 meters. At the end of the first lap, the runner from the Bolzano club Athletic Club 96 was still tied with David Andersag at the top. In the final round, however, Bazzoni left the young Überetscher behind, won clearly in 32,31 minutes and can call himself VSS national champion 2016. Andersag took second place, around half a minute behind, and Thomas Hellrigl from Lauffreunde Laatsch/Taufers completed the podium in 33,51 minutes. The youngest runners showed great performances from 15 p.m. The VSS/Raiffeisen state championship titles went to Sonja Reiterer (SV Mölten) and Elias Stecher (LF Laatsch/Taufers) in the student D category; in the student C category, Julia Paternoster (ASC Berg) was ahead, while in the student C category Niklas Thaler from ASV Deutschnofen won. In the student B category, Sophia Valeria Stratmann (LF Sarntal) and David Bazzanella (GS Lenti e Veloci) won, while Nelly Stieglmair (LF Sarntal) was victorious in the student A category. David Giusti from ASC Laas was unbeatable for students A. There were also state championship titles for Stefanie Auer (female youth B/ASC Berg), Heidi Messner (female youth A/LF Sarntal) and Alexander Paris (male youth B/SG Eisacktal). The most successful club was once again ASC Laas with 2.169 points, ahead of Lauffreunde Laatsch/Taufers (1.411) and ASC Berg (1.158).
