Pircher and Holtz are unstoppable in Mals

The trip to the track is already a tradition in the VSS/Raiffeisen city and village running series. A total of 279 runners came to Mals on June 2nd to take part in the VSS/Raiffeisen track run on the Tartan track. The distance ranged from 200m for the youngest to 5.000m for the men. In warm temperatures and partly bright sunshine, ASV Mals once again presented itself as an excellent organizer.

Among the women, who completed a distance of 3.000 meters, Petra Pircher from ASC Laas was unbeatable. Pircher dominated the race from the start and controlled the pace at will. After seven and a half laps, the woman from Laas had lapped the entire field at least once except for six runners. In the end the clock showed 10:51,9 minutes for the winner. Christine Kirchlechner from the South Tyrolean Running Club came in second place, around 15 seconds behind. Verena Pratzner from ASC Laas completed the podium in 11.45,3:XNUMX minutes.

In the men's race, the numerous spectators saw Alex Holtz's debut victory. The athlete from FullSport Meran won the 5.000m in 17:16,8 minutes, almost 2,5 seconds ahead of Alexander Rabensteiner. Konrad Schwalt from the Laatsch/Taufers running friends took third place in 17:20,5 seconds. For a long time it was unclear whether it would be enough for Holtz. The man from Meran was at the start in the first of two races and had to worry about victory until the second group crossed the finish line. With a strong finish, Konrad Schwalt made things exciting again and won his race, but was just unable to catch up with Holtz and Rabensteiner's time.

The runners from ASC Laas once again won the club rankings with a total of 2.287 points. Second place went to the Lauffreunde Laatsch/Taufers with 2.161 points, third place went to the runners from ASC Berg with 1.617 points. The next run of the VSS/Raiffeisen city and village running series 2016 will take place on June 12, 2016 in Hafling.
