Pircher and Karnutsch win the VSS village run in Avelengo

Short, sharp climbs, followed by short but quite steep downward sections: the circuit in Avelengo was quite something. So it was understandable that the 1,25 kilometer long route demanded everything from the participants in the fifth tour stop of the 2016 VSS/Raiffeisen city and village running series. Especially since, in addition to asphalt passages, there was also a short detour on forest floor and gravel paths to overcome.

Among the women, favorite Petra Pircher from ASC Laas once again coped best with the conditions. The woman from Laas won her fourth race this year as part of the VSS/Raiffeisen city and village running series. Only in Oberwielenbach did she have to settle for second place. In 9:43,4 minutes, Pircher once again gave her competitors in Hafling no chance. The runner-up, Romana Gafriller from SG Eisacktal, was more than 30 seconds behind in the end. Third place went to Karin Innerebner (South Tyrol Running Club) in 10:35,2 minutes.

Among the men, Gabriel Karnutsch from SV Mölten was unbeatable. In 17:35,1 minutes he was not only the first to cross the finish line, but also set a clear new course record. Fifteen seconds behind, Gianmarco Bazzoni (Athletic Club 96) took second place. Andreas Reiterer from the organizing Telmekom team completed the podium in 17:57,3 minutes.

A total of 300 runners took part in Hafling. While the children ran distances of 200 to 1.500m, the women and youth categories ran over 3.000m. The men, on the other hand, covered a distance of around 5.000m.

In the end, ASC Laas was once again clearly ahead in the team rankings. Second place went to the Lauffreunde Laatsch/Taufers, third place went to the athletes from ASC Berg.

Pircher and Karnutsch win the VSS village run in Avelengo

Petra Pircher and Gabriel Karnutsch are the winners of the VSS/Raiffeisen village run in Hafling. A total of 300 runners tackled the challenging circuit on Tschögglberg. The team championship was won by ASC Laas for the fifth time in a row.
