Regional team championships in Borgo Valsugana

At national level, a total of 374 clubs are taking part in the team championship, 51 more than twelve months ago. 341 teams were registered for men and 301 for women. In Trentino-South Tyrol, the regional championship, which counts as the first qualifying round, will take place this weekend in Borgo Valsugana. For men, Athletic Club 96 Bozen is the favorite for the title. For the South Tyroleans it would be the 13th overall.

Isalbet Juarez is the new star of Bolzano The big stars in President Bruno Telchini's team are hurdler Paolo Dal Molin, the 2013 European vice champion in the 60 m hurdles and new acquisition Isalbet Juarez. The 27-year-old Cuban was naturalized in 2005 and has been a member of the Italian 4x400m relay team for many years, with which he won the Mediterranean Games in Mersin in 2013 and took part in the European Championships in Zurich last year. He was also crowned Italian indoor champion over 2013 m in Ancona in 400. In Borgo Valsugana, Juarez will celebrate his debut in the Athletic Club 96 jersey. Da Molin, however, will not be there because he is currently recovering from an injury. National coach Massimo Magnani has asked the Bolzano club to rest the Italian 5km walking champion as he starts the European Cup in Spain next week. These athletes will be able to take part in the second qualifying round on June 6th and 7th in Rovigo in Veneto, while the third phase of qualification will take place as part of the regional championships on June 27th and 28th in Rovereto and Lana. All results achieved in appearances with the national team between May 11th and June 29th are also valid. The goal of the Bolzano club is to reach the “Gold” final in Jesolo. Ten starting places have already been taken, the people of Bolzano have to get one of the two spots that are still available.
