Reschenseelauf: Gualdi's hat trick and Patelli's comeback

Giovanni Gualdi achieved a hat trick this Saturday with his third success at Lake Reschen. This puts him in the ranking of series winners, just behind Hermann Achmüller, who has six wins to his name. Gualdi took advantage of a tactical race with a group of four up to the tenth kilometer and exploited his “seaworthiness” to reach the finish line with a time of 49.23 minutes, one minute ahead of the runner-up. The Reschensee debutants Maciek Miereczko and Konstantin Wedel were unable to counter the Bergamasco's increased pace. The Pole and the German still climbed onto the podium with a top debut time as second and third place. Last year's third-place finisher, Johannes Hillebrand from Bavaria, came fourth. The first South Tyrolean, Markus Ploner, who started for ASV Vipiteno, secured fifth place, almost 51 minutes behind. Meanwhile, the course record set by the Czech Republic Milan from 2013 (48.17) remained untouched. In the women's category, Eliana Patelli, who comes from the province of Brescia, celebrated her debut at Lake Reschen with a confident victory (58.34). It was also the first race that the Italian took part in since autumn 2015. Patelli celebrated a start-to-finish victory and relegated the German Monika Rausch to second place, 40 seconds behind. Third and also the first South Tyrolean was Renate Rungger, followed by Petra Pircher from Vinschger and Marinella Guida from Bergamasco. In addition to the main run at 17 p.m., the children's races with 13.30 participants took place from 355:2.896 p.m. Shortly before the main run, the handbikers set off around Lake Reschen. At the top of the podium here was serial winner and local hero Roland Ruepp. A total of 17 participants were at the starting line of this XNUMXth edition of the Reschenseelauf. The Reschenseelauf was - after the Bozen Bo-Classic, the Kalterersee half marathon and the Merano spring half marathon - the fourth stage of the Top7 racing series. The next stage is the Puster 3/4 half marathon on August 20th.
