Rungger and Thaler win Brixen Marathon - All results

Rungger won the 42,195 kilometer route in 3:25.28 hours. The 32-year-old from Sarner took the lead towards the middle of the race and ultimately relegated Petro Mamu (Eritrea/3:27.52), who had been leading until then, and the Italian Lorenzo Trincheri (3:48.16) to their places. Mamu is an absolute top man, became mountain running world champion in 2012, but this time he couldn't do anything against Rungger.

Edeltraud Thaler won the women's event for the fourth time in a row. Her confident winning time was 4:19.38 hours. Anna Pedevilla from Val Badia and Doris Weissteiner from Klausen completed the podium.

The fastest relay was the SG Eisacktal Toprunners team with Martin Mayrhofer, Manfred Kritzinger, Günther Mair and Toni Eisenstecken, which reached the finish after 3:32.06 hours. A total of 350 individual athletes and 62 teams of four crossed the finish line.

Hannes Rungger and Edeltraud Thaler won the Brixen Dolomites Marathon (2340 meters altitude) on Saturday morning. With his success, Rungger even left mountain running world champion Petro Mamu behind.
