Serial winners Lanziner and Pircher shine at the “Erdäpfellauf”

With 890 runners, the fifth run of the Top7 series set a new participant record. The ¾ half marathon, in which athletes have to cover 17,6 km, has now become one of the biggest highlights of the year in the local running scene. The big winner in the men's field was top favorite Peter Lanziner. The 33-year-old Trudner, who already triumphed in 2014 and 2015, achieved the South Tyrolean record time of 56.32 minutes. In doing so, he equalized the mark of Hermann Achmüller, who also won in 2010 in 56.32 minutes. Behind Lanziner, triathlete Matthias Steinwandter took second place, almost two minutes behind, Gianmarco Bazzoni (+2.25) from Athletic Club 96 Bozen came third, ahead of his teammate Khalid Jbari. Hannes Rungger from Sarn, who won in Sand in Taufers in 2011 and 2012, had to be content with fifth place this time. Record winner Hermann Achmüller, who has already been included in the winners list five times, came in 7th place.

First win for Petra Pircher In the women's race, Petra Pircher's victory was also a favorite. The 44-year-old from Vinschger, fourth last year, celebrated her first triumph on sand. Pircher finished the race in 1:10.10 hours and relegated Johanna Dellemann from Überetscher to silver place by over two and a half minutes. The podium was completed by Veronica Chiusole, who reached the finish almost four minutes late on the day's winner Pircher.

On Saturday the so-called “Erdäpfellauf” took place in the Pustertal for the 18th time. At the ¾ half marathon from Bruneck to Sand in Taufers, Peter Lanziner from Truden and Petra Pircher from Vinschger were unbeatable in the rain.
