Seven new records at the track and field meet

At the 5th athletics meeting in the city of Bolzano, which was the first stage of the Speed ​​King & Queen Trentino South Tyrol for the first time this year, seven new records were set on Saturday.

At the meeting organized by the ASD Runners Club Bozen Raiffeisen and Athletic Club 96 Alperia, 24-year-old Pamela Croce (US Quercia) particularly shone. She became a protagonist in the high jump by improving the old meeting record by nine centimeters and crossing the bar at a height of 1,79 meters. The javelin thrower Adele Toniutto (ASD Team Treviso) also showed an outstanding performance, winning the women's event and setting a new record with a distance of 50,42 meters. The two other records were set by the female runners.


In the 100 meter final, Giulia Fongaro from Atletica Vicentina won with the superior best time of 11.65 seconds, which made her about half a second faster than her first pursuers Nancy Demattè and Arianna Bacelle. In the final of the 100 meter hurdles, Elena Marini also clearly prevailed over her competitors and improved the meeting record to 13.70 seconds. From a South Tyrolean perspective, two athletes were able to win the day: Petra Nardelli won in the 400 meters, Lara Vorhauser came first in the 800 meter race. Anita Nalesso (Trevisatletica) and Carol Zangobbo (Assindustria Sport), however, prevailed in the shot put and long jump.

Three records for men

Among the men, three athletes in particular stood out, two of whom are even from one of the organizing clubs, the Athletic Club 96 Alperia: Destiny Nkeonye put his stamp on the long jump by achieving a new one with the incredible distance of 7,44 meters Meeting record set. And Lorenzo Ianes from Trentino also excelled in the 100 meters when he stopped the clock after 10 seconds and 36 hundredths. The third meeting record was in the 110 meter hurdles, where Giacomo Zampese from the ASD Atletica Biotekna club crossed the finish line after just 15.07 seconds, improving the previous record by 38 hundredths.

In the other competitions in the men's general class, Mattia Pivetta (400 meters), Filippo Bisetto (88 meters), Mattia Meneghini (high jump), Hubert Göller (javelin throw) and Giacomo Bona (shot put) prevailed. Above all, the results of the 100 meter races and hurdles should be remembered, as they also count towards the overall ranking of the Speed ​​King & Queen Trentino South Tyrol.

After the first stage in Bolzano, the Speed ​​King & Queen Trentino South Tyrol continues on June 17th with the 1st Meeting Pergine before it ends on July 1st at the Queenatletica Arco Games 2.0 in Arco. Numerous athletes from the region and beyond took part in the event organized by the two Bolzano clubs. In addition to the competitions in the general class category, three competitions were also held for athletes in the “Cadetti” category.
