Soltn mountain half marathon completes the dozen this Sunday

The six-time mountain running world champion Jonathan Wyatt has already triumphed twice at Salten. The New Zealander, who lives in Trentino, has already confirmed his arrival, as have Emanuele Manzi (winner in 2009) and defending champion Hannes Rungger. “Compared to last year, there is more interest this year. This could mean breaking the participant record of 260,” hopes OC boss Sepp Rungaldier from the Soltnflitzer. The Soltn mountain half marathon is a stage in the Top7 running series for the second time. The two Vinschgers Michael Burger and Petra Pircher will try to defend their lead in the overall standings.

The Soltn mountain half marathon has been running for twelve years. It emerged from the mountain run from Jenesien to the Möltner Kaser (five editions). The winner's board is rich - and that is probably no coincidence. Six-time world champion Jonathan Wyatt has won the race twice. With Antonio Molinari and Marco Gaiardo, another world champion and a European champion have triumphed at Salten. Among women, Olympic medalist Antonella Confortola is the record holder with three victories.

The start takes place at the Jenesien sports field at 1226 m above sea level. From there the route leads to the highest point near the Langfenn church (1527 m) and along a different route back to the starting point. A total of 520 meters of altitude have to be overcome. “It is the only half marathon in South Tyrol that is held away from traffic and asphalt,” says OC boss Rungaldier with pride. "The panorama of the larch meadows is unique and popular with runners from near and far." If 21.1 km is too long for you, you can share the route with a partner. The change takes place after 10.6 km in Langfenn. New this year is the Mila intermediate sprint, which will provide additional excitement. Registrations are possible until September 20th at 17 p.m. Late registrations will only be accepted on race day from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the start and finish. The half marathon starts at 10 a.m., the relays start ten minutes later. A winner's check of 500 euros awaits the winner of the half marathon for men and women.

The event surrounding the Soltn mountain half marathon begins on Saturday at 14.30 p.m. with the cycling race from Bolzano to Jenesien (start at the valley station of the Jenesenier cable car, approx. 10 km, 900 m).
