Spectacle on Friday: The pole vault meeting in Schlanders

This year, LAC Vinschgau and ASC Schlanders have once again succeeded in calling top-class pole vaulters to the capital of Vinschgau. Shortly before the European Championships in Berlin, things are happening in quick succession for the athletes. The Beijing 2015 world champion, Shawn Barber, the Brazilian Olympic champion from Rio, Thiago Braz da Silva, and the Czech Michal Balner were the last three winners of the meeting in Silandro. Da Silva also set the course record two years ago with an incredibly strong 5,90 m.

Schlanders is one of the last stops where the athletes can check their form again under competition conditions before the European Championships. That's why the meeting in Vinschgau is so important. International top class meets local talent. Piotr Lisek (POL) is likely to be the top favorite with a personal best of 6 meters. But his competition should not be underestimated either

It starts at 19.15 p.m. with the “South Tyrol Trophy”, where four young South Tyrolean athletes will give their best. The international athletes will then be introduced. The jump takes place around 22 p.m. during the total lunar eclipse.
