Pole vault meeting in Schlanders: Stars check their World Cup form

This year, LAC Vinschgau and ASC Schlanders have once again succeeded in calling top-class pole vaulters to the capital of Vinschgau. In just a few weeks before the World Championships in Doha (September 27th to October 6th), things are happening in quick succession for the athletes. The world champion from Beijing 2015, Shawn Barber, the Brazilian Olympic champion from Rio, Thiago Braz da Silva, the Czech Michal Balner and last year's winner Piotr Lisek were the last four winners of the meeting in Silandro. Da Silva also set the course record three years ago with a strong 4 m. The Pole Lisek, who won the European team title at the weekend in Bydgoszcz (he won the pole vault with 3 m), is not registered this year.

Schlanders is one of the last stops where the athletes can check their form again under competition conditions before the World Championships. That's why the meeting in Vinschgau is so important. In addition to the two Americans Christopher Nilsen (PB 5,95 m) and Cole Walsh (5,81), the Greek Konstadinos Filippidis (5,91) and the Italian Claudio Stecchi (5,80), Ernest John will also be in Schlanders Obiena (PHI), Bokai Huang (CHN), Baptiste Boirie (FRA), Jakob Köhler (GER), Luigi Colella (ITA) and Manfred Menz from Merano, who jumps for the Bolzano club Athletic Club 96, will be at the start.

The South Tyrol Pole Vault Trophy with the two Lanans Nathalie Kofler and Nicole Indra is again part of the supporting program. The event starts on the Kulturhausplatz in Schlanders at 19.00 p.m.
