South Tyrolean athletes win big in Munich

The runners in particular performed particularly well. Here the South Tyroleans won 38 medals, 18 of them gold. In the U20 age group, the two talented sprinters from SG Eisacktal, Patrick Baù and Diana Esposito Caravaggi, celebrated double victories over 60 and 200 m. Ira Harrasser from Bruneck remained under 18 seconds in the 60 m sprint in the U8 women's competition. She was only eight hundredths shy of her best time of 7.87, which she set in Munich last year. However, 15-year-old Annika Oberrauch achieved a new best time in the U20 competition. The woman from Eppan improved by 200 hundredths over 49 m and took second place in a strong 26.57 seconds. U2 high jumper Alberto Masera also showed a good performance: the man from Bolzano crossed 20 m.

The younger athletes also made people sit up and take notice with their top results in Munich. In the U60 girls' 16 m sprint, Anastasia Veronesi Vedovelli from Neumarkt won in a strong 7,98 seconds, while Annika Oberrauch secured the 60 m hurdles. In the shot put, Beltina Kallaba, who turned 15 on Monday, achieved 12.09 m. Marie Burger from SSV Brixen celebrated a double victory in the U14 category (60m + 60m hurdles), as did Jakob Boi in the boys category (60m + high).

In total, South Tyrol's track and field athletes went home with exactly 60 medals. The most successful club was the SG Eisacktal with 10 medals, followed by the Bolzano club SAF with 9. The SV Lana and the Südtirol Team Club each won medals 8 times.

South Tyrolean athletes win big in Munich

Last weekend the “Werner von Linde Meeting” took place in the Munich Olympic Center. Almost half of the participants in the classic youth meeting were from South Tyrol, with around 200 athletes also celebrating several victories.
