South Tyrolean F55 women's relay team wins Italian Cross Country Championships

Elisabeth Moser, Rosa Pattis, Rosanna Lanziner-Barbi and Christina Teissl made a clear statement on the first day of the competition. They won the F55 category in the impressive time of 45.54 minutes. In total, only five relays (three in the F35 age group and two in the F40) were faster than the South Tyrol Team Club relay.

Katja Pattis was the best local individual athlete. The Tierserin, who started for the South Tyrol Team Club and was one of the favorites in the race, ran the 2 kilometers in the U16 category in 8.22 minutes and ended up in the thankless fourth place. The 14-year-old missed the podium by just four seconds. The victory went to Irene Arlati from Lombard with a time of 8.16 minutes. Together with her teammates from the state selection Lisa Kerschbaumer, Maddalena Melle, Martina Falchietti and Veronika Hölzl, she also took the brilliant fifth place on the team. Victory went to Lombardy, ahead of Lazio, Veneto and Piedmont.

Katja's brother, Daniel Pattis, also performed extremely well, finishing sixth in the U21 category. He completed the 8km course in 26.44 minutes. The two athletes from the South Tyrolean running club Raphael Joppi and Simon Mair came in 23rd and 26th. The victory in this category went to Nfamara Njie.

Otherwise, no South Tyroleans achieved a top placement. European marathon champion Daniele Meucci secured the title in the general men's class. Markus Ploner came 32nd as the best South Tyrolean.

South Tyrolean F55 women's relay team wins Italian Cross Country Championships

2.263 athletes from 299 sports clubs determined a total of 39 Italian cross-country champions in and around the Roman Theater in Gubbio over the weekend. The South Tyrol Team Club's master women's relay team was crowned Italian champion in the F55 category.
