South Tyroleans win at the Italian Masters Championship

9 gold, 5 silver and 2 bronze medals. This is the excellent record of the local Masters athletes in Arezzo. The most successful club was once again the South Tyrol Team Club with 10 medals won: Among the men, the main focus was on the Lananer M60 athlete Hubert Indra, who was crowned Italian champion in both the 100 m hurdles and the pole vault. Indra even set a new Italian record in the hurdles of 15.58 seconds. Rosanna Barbi Lanziner and Elisabeth Moser also showed a strong performance among the women. Lanziner from Truden won silver in the F60 over 400 and 800m respectively, while F55 middle distance athlete Moser won bronze and silver in the 800 and 1500 respectively.

But Waltraud Mattedi did it even better. In addition to the discus and javelin throw, the F55 from Signat also won the shot put. Mattedi was crowned triple Italian champion. Marco Palmieri (400 m M35), Rudof Frei (800 m M70) and Manfred Menz from Meran, who jumped a strong 35 m in the M5,01 pole vault, also took the title. Hubert Göller also won the M40 javelin throw with an impressive 60.60 m.

South Tyroleans win at the Italian Masters Championship

The Italian championship in the Masters categories ended on Sunday in Arezzo. 1.335 track and field athletes met in Tuscany for three days. The South Tyrolean athletes in particular made people sit up and take notice. They won 16 medals.
