South Tyrolean Sprint Champion started successfully

The concept of the SprintChampion, developed in North Tyrol in 2018, is simple and it works wonderfully, as the start in Vipiteno showed.

“We are installing a 30-meter-long mobile sprint track in town centers in South Tyrol on which children and young people try to sprint as quickly as possible,” explains VSS athletics speaker Reinhold Rogen. In addition to talent screening, in keeping with the spirit of the Association of Sports Clubs in South Tyrol, the main aim is to give children an understanding of the fun and joy of exercise and sport.

350 runs to start At the start in Vipiteno on July 11th, around 350 runs were counted, with more than 60 children and young people trying to give their best again and again. The start took place in Vipiteno.

“The enthusiasm of the girls and boys was outstanding, their ambition was huge, and their joy in the sport was even greater,” said VSS chairman Günther Andergassen, pleased about the successful start. The fact that very impressive times were achieved - such as Lea Perathoner's 4,36 seconds in the U12 category - was just the icing on the cake for the organizers.

After the successful start in Vipiteno, there are now further dates on the VSS agenda. The next South Tyrolean Sprint Champion will be searched for in the U31, U19, U21 and U8 age groups on Wednesday, July 10st between 12 p.m. and 14 p.m. on the town hall square in St. Michael/Eppan. Of course, everyone is allowed to sprint along, including younger and older siblings, friends, parents and grandparents.
