South Tyroleans impress at regional championships

Of the six South Tyrolean women who competed in Arzignano, five climbed onto the podium: Isabel Vikoler from SG Eisacktal won the 400m hurdles in a good 1:05.04 minutes, while Anna Menz from Meran held her own in the long jump with 5.56 m could. Angela Kier (SG Eisacktal) came third in this competition with 5.32 m, but took silver in the triple jump with 11.72 m. Pole vaulter Nicole Indra from Lana also took second place with 3.40 m. The last podium place was secured by Federica Cavalli from Bolzano, who achieved third place over 400 m in 59.47 seconds.

The Athletic Club 96 Bozen convinced the men. President Bruno Telchini's team, which recently made a statement with a historic third place at the Oro Final in Modena, secured a total of six podium places. Kevin Giacomelli won the 100 m sprint in 10.75 seconds ahead of his teammate Alessandro Monte, Michele Ongarato won the hammer throw with a strong 62.67 m, as did Hubert Göller the javelin throw. He reached 56.12 meters. Also on the podium were high jumper Alberto Masera from Bolzano (3rd with 1.95 m) and junior runner Nicolò Fusaro (2nd over 110 hurdles in 15.10 seconds). The 18-year-old Patrick Baù also showed a strong performance in Arzignano: The 400 m runner from SG Eisacktal came second in a good 49.82 seconds.

Valentina Cavalleri second in Rieti Valentina Cavalleri, on the other hand, confirmed her top form at the regional championship in Rieti. The 22-year-old from San Candido took second place in the 400 m hurdles in 57.30 seconds after setting her new personal best of 57.39 seconds just a few days ago in Switzerland. Another Pusterian, Caren Agreiter from Bruneck, had to settle for 5th place in 58.35 seconds. The top results of the South Tyroleans at the regional championship in Arzignano Women 200m: 5. South Tyroleans impress at regional championships

The regional individual athletics championships took place across Italy at the weekend. The South Tyrolean athletes were in action in Arzignano in the province of Vicenza.
