South Tyrol's athletics talents compete with Italy's elite

The Italian Youth Championship will take place for the third time after 1968 and 2015 in the magical “Arena Civica di Milano”. Over the weekend, over 1.000 athletes from around 300 clubs will fight for a total of 42 Italian championship titles. This year the U57 Italian Championship will take place for the 18th time. Last year the South Tyroleans returned from Rieti with a medal. 2000 m steeplechase Greta Chizzali from Laion took bronze in 7:20.68 minutes. In the women's race, two local athletes are also eligible for top results this year. The most promising participant is Alessia Goffi. The 16-year-old javelin thrower from Val Gardena is registered with the second best distance of 45.01 m in her flagship discipline. Goffi is in impressive form, just two weeks ago she won the javelin throw with 44.23 m at the international Brixia meeting. Her strongest opponent will be Anna Raimondi. The flagship of the GA Venezia has a width of 46.20 m. Agata D'Angelo is also expected to achieve a good result in Milan. The 400 m hurdles ace from SG Eisacktal is aiming for a top 5 placement. In the four-person men's team, decathlete Daniele Tomasi from the Bolzano club CSS Leonardo da Vinci could cause a surprise. The top ten is also the goal of Bolzano high jumper Mattia Cruciotti. South Tyrol's athletics talents compete with Italy's elite

After the U20 and U23 Italian Championships last week in Florence, it is now the turn of the U18 athletes. They will hold their title fights from Friday to Sunday in Milan. A total of 13 local athletes are taking part.
