Tschurtschenthaler and Bazzoni are the VSS state champions

The women ran a 3 km lap in Niederdorf. The former 3000m steeplechase runner for the Italian national team, Agnes Tschurtschenthaler, won the national championship title. The 35-year-old won in 12.57 minutes, clearly ahead of Kathrin Hanspeter from Sarnen (13.19) and last year's winner Petra Pircher (13.43) from Laas.

Defending champion Gianmarco Bazzoni, however, was once again unbeatable in the men's 8 km race. The runner from the Bolzano club Athletic Club 96 won in 25.10 minutes and can call himself the 2017 VSS national champion. Simon Egger from Jenesien (26.23) took second place, over a minute behind, and Marc Eisenstecken from LC Pustertal completed the podium in 26.29.

The young athletes also performed well. The national championship titles in the U8 category went to Magdalena Pircher (ASC Berg) and David Neunhäuserer (Olang), in the U10 category the two runners from ASC Schlern, Lea Perathoner and Hannes Mayrl, were ahead, while in the U12 category SG Eisacktal with Pia Fischer and Hannes Lanzinger celebrated a double victory.

Sophia Stratmann (LF Sarntal) and Lukas Lanzinger (SG Eisacktal) won the U14, while Lisa Kerschbaumer (ASC Berg) and Lukas Engl (SSV Bruneck) won the U16. Lara Vorhauser (ASV Vipiteno) and Alex Stanzl (Toblach) were unbeatable in the U18s. There were also the U20 national championship titles for Sophia Zingerle (SG Eisacktal) and Henrik Schwalt (LF Laatsch/Taufers).

Tschurtschenthaler and Bazzoni are the VSS state champions

Agnes Tschurtschenthaler and Gianmarco Bazzoni are the VSS national road running champions of 2017. In good running weather, the two athletes clearly prevailed in the title fights in Niederdorf. A total of around 300 runners took part in the Pustertal.
