U16 athletes open season in Brixen

In the morning there were competitions over 80 m, 300 m, 1000 m, 80 m hurdles, high jump and long jump, shot put and javelin throwing at the wonderful facility in Brixen Süd. Sofia Demetz provided the best performance of the day in optimal conditions. The 15-year-old from Val Gardena, who has been running for the Merano sports club since last year, won the 1000 m run in a good 3:03.87 minutes, clearly ahead of Marion Oberhofer (3:13.61) and her teammate Emma Ghirardello Pichler (3:16.20). . Demetz improved her record from last year (3:07.01) by almost four seconds. Daniele Tomasi from Bolzano showed a strong performance for the boys. The sprinter from CSS Leonardo da Vinci won over 80 m in 9.60 seconds and was almost 80 hundredths of a second ahead of his teammate Mattia Andreasi, who stopped the time measurement at 10.37 seconds. Hanna Pichler from the South Tyrol Team Club also showed good performances in Brixen, who ran the 300 m in 43.62 seconds, as did the winners of the 80 m hurdles, Emy Pupp from SSV Brixen (12.63 seconds), and Alexa Schneider from SSV Bruneck in the long jump (4.55 m ). Mattia Graiff (SAF Bolzano) also stood out among the boys: the man from Bolzano won the 300 m competition in 41.06 seconds. David Agethle from Merano dominated the 1000 m race in 2:56.73 minutes, Daniele Tomasi was in a class of his own in the 80 m sprint as well as the long jump with 5.71 m. U16 athletes open season in Brixen

The athletics season for the U16 age group started in Brixen on Saturday. The organizers were pleased with the huge turnout; a total of over 120 athletes took part.
