U18 Italian Championship: Gold for Julia Calliari, silver for Markus Puff

Julia Calliari from the Bozen Running Club, who has already dominated the U16 age group, won the title in the 100m sprint and stayed under 12 seconds for the first time in her career. The 17-year-old from Siebeneich prevailed in an excellent 11,96 seconds (new national record) and won ahead of Daniela Tassani from Bergamo, who had to be content with the silver medal.

Markus Puff from SV Lana won the second medal on Sunday. The 17-year-old electrician from Terlan took second place in the 110m hurdles final in 14.31 seconds behind the new Italian champion Nicola Cesca from Macerata (14.11). Puff was even the fastest in the preliminary run with 14.27 seconds, improving his personal record by exactly three tenths of a second.

In addition, South Tyrol's U18 athletes collected another eleven top ten results. Jim Folajin Fonseca from Brixen came sixth in the 100m with 11.08 seconds. In the preliminary run he was six hundredths faster and set a new personal best of 11.02 seconds. Raffaele Fusaro from Bolzano also came sixth over 400 m in 50.66 seconds (50.22 in the preliminary run), Thomas Schiffregger from Pusteria in the long jump with 6,73 m, Verena Stefani from Vipiteno over 3000 m in 10:32.62 minutes (new personal best) and the 4x100m -Relay of the Bozen Running Club with Alessandra Realdon, Francesca Nicolodi, Valeria Mura and Julia Calliari in 48.55 seconds.

Alessandra Realdon from Bozen (100m hurdles/14.34) and Franziska Kofler from Lana (high/1,63) took 7th place, Stefanie Gruber from SV Lana came eighth in the shot put with 12,27m, and Andreas Galler from Kalter from the Bozen Running Club came eighth in the high jump with 1,91m ninth and the Bolzano Marco Spagnolli over 1500m in 4.06,33 minutes and Valeria Mura over 200m in 25.48 seconds tenth.
