U18 Italian Championship: Sara Buglisi 6th in the 5000m walk

The new U18 Italian walking champion is Alessia Mastronicola, who won the “Apulia Derby” in 24:47.22 minutes ahead of Ida Mastrangelo (25:13.45). Last year's winner Abdica Lavinia Lacatus came third in 25:38.76. The Lombard received a penalty minute. Sara Buglisi, on the other hand, only narrowly missed the podium. The 16-year-old from SC Meran came sixth in 25:44.92, missing out on a podium place by just six seconds. Her teammate Anna Menz also made it into the long jump final on Friday. Today she improved by 12 cm compared to Friday and reached 5.57 m, which also helped her to 7th place.

Emma Garber and Ira Harrasser took two tenth places. Garber even improved over the 2000 m obstacle from 7.43.65 to 7.20.78 minutes, while Ira Harrasser was able to impress in the 200 m sprint with her new best time of 25.00 seconds. Harrasser also made people sit up and take notice in the 100 m run, where she also set a new personal best of 12.19 seconds in the preliminary run. In the final she ran 12.35 seconds and came 11th.

The SG Eisacktal athlete qualified for the final, which will take place on Sunday at 49.19 a.m., with the second fastest time of 11.00 seconds.
