U18 Italian Championship: South Tyroleans on the hunt for medals

Among the 665 athletes who will make the journey to central Italy are 13 athletes from seven South Tyrolean clubs. SSV Bruneck is sending 60m runner Ira Harrasser and SG Eisacktal is sending Patrick Baù (200 and 400m) and Angela Kier (high and triple jump). Alberto Masera (high jump) from Athletic Club 96 Bozen is at the start. The SSV Brixen is sending Linda Enrich (high jump) into the race, while the Meran sports club is relying on its hopeful Sara Buglisi (3000m walking) as well as Maria Gamper (60m hurdles) and Anna Menz (long and triple jump). ASV Lana is sending Nathalie Kofler (pole vault), Sophie Mittersteiner (triple jump) and Linda Pircher (long and triple jump).

The South Tyrolean athletes have a chance of winning medals in several disciplines this weekend. Sara Buglisi is one of the top favorites over 3000m walking. With 14:33.96 minutes she is registered with the second best time behind Lombard Ida Mastrangelo (13:59.72). The Merano native turns 16 on Saturday, the day of her competition, and could give herself a nice birthday present.

Patrick Baù (SG Eisacktal) is also one of the medal candidates in the 400m. The 16-year-old ran the 400m in 50.18 seconds. The clear favorite for the title is Edoardo Scotti (48.10), Leonardo Puca and Manuel di Primio are also candidates for the podium.

In the high jump, Alberto Masera from Athletic Club 96 Bozen has a chance of a podium place. He already jumped 1.99 m and is therefore registered in third place, behind Giacomo Belli (2.08) and Francesco Ruzza (2.04). Pole vaulter Nathalie Kofler also has a chance of a top spot. A total of 22 Italian championship titles will be awarded on Saturday and Sunday.

U18 Italian Championship: South Tyroleans on the hunt for medals

After the U23 and U20 indoor championships, Ancona will once again be the venue for a major athletics event next weekend. In the Marche it is now the turn of the young athletes in the U18 category.
